When will Corin have snow?

We are dependent on Mother Nature to deliver natural snow or temperatures cold enough to make snow (we need extended periods below -2 degrees). Our season usually runs from mid June till mid-September. If you’re wanting to see natural snow falling we will do our best to update people several days ahead of a predicted snowfall. Keep your eye on our Facebook and Twitter for the latest news.

Do I have to book ahead?

No, but you should. We strongly encourage you to book ahead for snow play sessions. We are using an online ticketing system in 2015, and all sessions will be available for booking through it. We will keep a small reserve of tickets for sale onsite, but the area can fill up very quickly, especially during school holidays and on weekends. Pre booking guarantees you a spot on the snow and speeds up the process when you arrive.

Online booking will go live from the first snow play session of 2015.

Is it dangerous?

Alpine activities carry a degree of risk by their nature - snow and ice can be hazardous. Snow play and tobogganing come with additional risks created by both yourself and others. Safety of all patrons is our priority and in order to use our facilities you need to be aware of these risks, and complete a waiver document at the ticket window or as part of the online ticket sales process.

Do you have accommodation?

Unfortunately not at this time. Corin Forest is only 45 minutes drive from central Canberra where there is a wide variety of accommodation options. For nearby accommodation we recommend the Alpha Hotel in Tuggenerong

Are there any park entrance costs?

Corin Forest lies outside of the National Park and there are no costs associated with site entry or parking.

Are dogs allowed?

Sorry but dogs are not allowed - we are home to numerous protected and endangered species and we don’t want to disturb their habitat.

Mobile Reception and Wifi

Please not that there is no mobile reception or wifi internet available at Corin Forest.

Do I need snow chains for my car?

This is dependant on daily conditions. If the road is open and clear they are not compulsory and all vehicles can access Corin Forest. On days of natural snowfall or severe icing the road may be open to 4WD and chained vehicles only. Corin Dam Road is maintained by Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) and they will make all decisions on road safety including closure. In the event of restricted access Corin Forest cannot supply refunds for pre-purchased tickets if your vehicle is not equipped to drive in snow (i.e. 4WD or chains). Please consider the weather forecast when making ticket purchases.

Can I ski and snowboard at Corin Forest?

Unfortunately at this time we do not offer snowboarding or skiing. With some excavating, boulder removal and construction, we are planning to have a ski slope up and running for winter 2016.

Do you rent clothing and snow gear?

We rent plastic toboggans but you will need to supply your own gear such as jackets and gloves. There are numerous hire and outlet stores in Canberra.

Does the Alpine Slide open in winter?

Yes it does! However it will be on a reduced schedule as it is affected by snow falls and ice build-up. We get (and keep) it running as early as possible, but we can only make it happen so quickly on really cold days! During winter it may not open until late morning as the ice is removed from the track.

Are there gluten free and vegetarian options at the cafe?

There sure are! We have regular menu and special items suitable for gluten free and vegetarian diets.

How do I get to Corin Forest?

Corin Forest is on Corin Road (sometimes referred to as Corin Dam Road). You simply turn off Tidbinbilla Road and follow Corin Road past Gibraltar Falls until you get here - you can’t miss us! It’s an approximately 45 minute trip by car from the centre of Canberra. At this time there are no public transport options to Corin Forest.

Please remember the road can be icy and slippery in winter, for the safety of you and other road users please drive carefully and to the conditions.
